What are locked custom fields?

When you install a Jira product or plugin, some fields that are needed by that product or plugin are created and locked. For example, an SLA field is created when you install Jira Service Management.

You can't configure a locked custom field. You can only add the locked custom field to a screen and view the field details including applied contexts and associated screens. 

To view the custom field contexts and associated screens: 

  1. Select Settings () > Issues.

  2. Under FIELDS, select Custom fields.

  3. Find the locked custom field and select > View field information. Alternatively, you can select a field's screens or contexts link to view the locked field's details.
