Turn releases in your plan on or off
This page refers to the advanced planning features that are only available as part of Jira Cloud Premium and Enterprise.
Releases (also known as Fix versions) are commonly used by development teams as deadlines for sections (or versions) of work. Those planning work for non-software teams can choose to hide all information related to releases.
This feature only hides releases from your plan and hides release-related tools. It doesn’t impact releases in your projects.
This feature is currently rolling out to cloud customers. Your site may not reflect these changes, or you might not see it in your site just yet.
When you turn releases off in your plan, you’ll no longer see:
the Releases tab
the Releases field from the timeline as well as any filters that use it
release markers on the timeline, calendar, and program board
the option to group work items by assigned releases in the View settings menu
any rolled up dates based on releases
If you’re using release data to schedule work or define plan scope:
work items scheduled using the dates of assigned releases will instead use dates from sprints
if you’ve removed work from your plan based on their release, those work items will be re-added to your plan
Save all changes related to releases before you turn them off in your plan
Before turning off releases, save any unsaved changes related to the above features, such as changes to release dates or work item release assignments. Unsaved data related to releases will be discarded and it can’t be recovered.
To turn releases on or off in your plan:
Next to your plan’s name in the sidebar, select More actions (•••), then Plan settings.
Select Features, then toggle Releases. If you have unsaved changes related to releases, you’ll be asked to confirm that you want to discard these changes.
In the modal that opens, confirm your choice.
