We're updating our terminology in Jira

'Issue' is changing to 'work item'. You might notice some inconsistencies while this big change takes place.

Delete a work item from a list

To delete a work item, you must have the Delete work items permission in the project where the work item was created. Learn more about project permissions.

To delete a work item from the list, you can:

  1. Select the key for the work item you’d like to delete, to open the work item.

  2. Select More actions (), then select Delete.

  3. Select Archive if you want to archive the work item, or enter Delete in the text box to confirm that you want to delete the work item.

  4. Select Delete to confirm.

You can perform this action with your keyboard via Jira’s command palette. Use command + K (for Mac) or Ctrl + K (for Windows) to open the command palette while you’re in Jira. Read more about Jira’s command palette
