Configure email in Jira apps

To get the most out of your Jira apps, you can configure them to send email notifications when an event occurs, and to perform tasks on the receipt of an email.

Sending emails

Your Jira apps can send emails when an event occurs, such as a work item is created or completed, or when the work item is updated. These are called email notifications.

Discover how to configure email notifications sent by work item events or other activity, and customizing the content.

If you're not a Jira admin, you can manage the email notifications you receive in your personal settings.

Jira can send a maximum of 100 emails per day on the Free plan, then email notifications will be paused until the following day. You can upgrade your plan to allow for more email notifications. If you're trialing Standard, Premium or Enterprise plan, and need to increase your daily email limit, contact our support team.

Receiving emails

Your Jira apps can be configured to perform tasks when they receive emails. You can choose to allow your apps to create new work items when an email is received, or update an existing work item with a comment.
