We’re renaming ‘products’ to ‘apps’

Atlassian 'products’ are now ‘apps’. You may see both terms used across our documentation as we roll out this terminology change. Here’s why we’re making this change

Manage Rovo connectors

Rovo connectors enable you to connect third-party apps outside Atlassian to enhance Rovo Agents, Search, and Chat. Before connecting to a third-party app, we recommend reviewing the types of data stored in that app, and confirming that connecting the data aligns with your internal data use policies and practices.

Types of connectors

There are two types of Rovo connectors:

  • Admin-managed connectors - setup by an admin to access all the third-party content (while still respecting permissions)

  • Smart Link connectors - don’t need to be setup by an admin, and instead use Smart Link data to show results based on an individual user’s permissions and history. More on Smart Link connectors

Admin-managed connectors

Before you setup

To setup Rovo admin-managed connectors, you need to:

Check permissions

Rovo relies on and respects the permissions that are set in your third-party apps. Content that isn’t restricted may appear for all users in search results, or can be used by Agents or Chat. More on how permissions are kept in sync

Connectors per site

On each site with Rovo, most admin-managed connectors can only be used to connect to a single workspace. This means that:

  • On a single Rovo site (for example, yoursite.atlassian.net), you can only connect each app once (Google Drive)

  • Each different site with Rovo can connect to a different app workspace (your company's Google Drive) using its own connector.

The only connector that can be setup multiple times on a single Rovo site is the Custom website connector.

How to setup admin-manged connectors

To connect your third-party app, see support guides for connecting Rovo to:

If you’d like to disconnect an app, see Disconnect an app from Rovo.

As well as the admin-managed connectors, your teammates will have access to a number of other apps in Search using Smart Link connectors. Smart Link connectors don’t need to be setup by an admin, and instead use Smart Link data to show results based on individual user’s permissions.

To understand how Smart Link results show in Search, or how to connect, see Search with Smart Links.

We currently support the following Smart Links connectors:

Next steps

Each user must connect to the external apps to ensure they see only the data they have permission to access. They might not have to perform this step if they have previously connected their Atlassian account to the app.

Once the connector is setup and the user has connected it with the app, Rovo can use and show that data in Search, Chat, and Agents.
