What are my options to control the rollout of changes?

We continuously release changes so that your organization can get improvements and new features as soon as they’re available. As an organization admin, you can control how and when upcoming changes roll out to the Atlassian apps and sandboxes in your organization by choosing from the following options.

• Receive all changes right away

• Receive most changes right away but defer some

• Receive most changes as a group

By default, your organization is set to receive changes this way:

• All apps and sandboxes in your organization are on the continuous release track and receive changes as soon as they are available.

• Changes that require downtime will roll out to your organization during your default maintenance window.

• Organization admins cannot delay the rollout of a change.

Receive all changes right away

With this option:

• you’ll receive all changes as soon as they are available in your production and sandbox

• you can try out the following in your sandbox before adopting them in production:

  • new features (changes that don’t require people to adjust the way they are working)

To receive all types of changes right away, continue to keep your app, and the sandbox for that app, on the continuous track.

Receive most changes right away but defer some

With this option:

• you’ll receive all changes right away but when you need more time to prepare for a change, you can defer its rollout by at least 30 days

• you can try out the following in your sandbox before adopting them in production:

  • new features (changes that don’t require people to adjust the way they are working)

  • any changes that you defer

To receive most of the changes right away and defer only certain changes:

1. Continue to keep your app on the continuous track.

2. Switch the sandbox for that app to the preview track.

3. Allow organization admins to defer changes.

Receive most changes as a group

With this option:

• you’ll receive most changes as a group on the second Tuesday of each month. Types of changes included in the bundled track

• you can try out the same group of changes a month ahead in the sandbox, before adopting them in production

To receive most of the changes as a group on a monthly basis:

1. Switch your app to the bundled track.

2. Switch the sandbox for that app to the preview track.
