Automation in Atlassian Administration allows you orchestrate event‑based rules across your organization for authentication policies and other admin workflows.

Automation for authentication policies

Manually assigning users to authentication policies can be time consuming and error prone. You can create rules that automatically assign users to the right policies based on events and criteria you set. This helps streamline your user management and reduce the risk of misconfiguration.

Examples of how you can automate authentication policies for your organization:

  • Assign users to SSO-required policies automatically when they join specific groups or domains.

  • Move users automatically to default policies when their email or profile changes.

  • Ensure users synced from identity provider directories automatically have the correct policy.

Automation for API keys and tokens

Automation for API keys and tokens allows you to automatically manage the lifecycle of API credentials, such as user access tokens and admin API keys. To ensure that stale or unused credentials do not remain active, you can set up scheduled rules to revoke or suspend API tokens and keys that have not been used for a set period of time.
