We’re renaming ‘products’ to ‘apps’

Atlassian 'products’ are now ‘apps’. You may see both terms used across our documentation as we roll out this terminology change. Here’s why we’re making this change

Set a default data classification level

Set a default data classification level

Once data classification levels have been created and published in Atlassian Administration, default classification levels can be set for individual spaces in Confluence and projects in Jira, or a default can be set that will apply to all Confluence and Jira apps, known as the organization-wide default. What is a default classification level?

This default setting will automatically apply to any new or unclassified content. Users are also able to override any default on pages or issues they create.

To set an organization-wide default:

Who can do this?
Role: Organization admin
Atlassian Cloud: Atlassian Guard Premium
Atlassian Government Cloud: Not available

An organization-wide default classification level will be implemented across all your Confluence and Jira apps.

To apply an organization-wide default:

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Security > Data classification.

  3. Select More actions (•••) > Manage settings.

  4. Choose the classification level.

  5. Select Update.

To set an app-level default:

Who can do this?
Role: Confluence space admin, Jira project admin
Atlassian Cloud: Atlassian Guard Premium
Atlassian Government Cloud: Not available

The process for setting a default classification level at the app level varies depending on whether you are using Confluence or Jira.
