Resolve space policy conflicts
Your Jira admin can apply a space policy to your team-managed space to standardize the availability of either fields or statuses (or both). Once a space policy has been applied to your space, you can only use fields or statuses that are available to all spaces on your Jira site - you can’t create your own fields and statuses.
You’ll be able to keep using existing fields and statuses. But if you’re an admin, you’ll see warnings that prompt you to resolve the policy conflicts by replacing them with fields available to all spaces.

To resolve field and status conflicts, you must migrate each field or status to one that’s available in all spaces.
To review conflicts across all your spaces that have space policies applied:
Select Settings (), then select Spaces.
Select Space policies.
Look for a warning icon next to a policy.
Select the warning icon to view the relevant space conflicts.
Review the list of spaces with conflicts.
For each space, select the relevant link:
Review field conflicts - this opens the space's fields settings page, where you can select the most appropriate replacement field.
Review status conflicts - this opens the space's workflow settings, where you can select the most appropriate replacement status.

Resolve field conflicts
A field conflict occurs when you have a field in one space that duplicates or overlaps with a field that’s available to all spaces on your Jira site. To resolve a field conflict, you must replace the old field with one that’s available in all spaces.
To view and resolve field conflicts in your space settings:
Next to your space’s name in the sidebar, select More actions (), then Space settings.
Select Fields. If there are any field conflicts in your space, you’ll see a banner at the top of the page indicating the number of conflicting fields. Individual fields will be marked with a warning icon.
Review the list of fields to find one marked with a warning icon, then select Actions (), and select Review conflict.
To see a list of all the field conflicts (if there is more than one) expand the Fields folder.
To resolve a single conflict, hover over the field and select Resolve conflict. Or, to resolve all the conflicts at once, select Resolve N conflicts next to the Fields folder.
Select a new field to replace the old one, then select Preview to view the field changes.
In the list of field changes, select View changes to view more details about what each field migration will do.
Select Apply changes to proceed. After you migrate a field, the original field will be deleted.
Migrating to a new field will automatically update references to the original field in work items, work types, screens, and filters, but you must manually update the field reference in the following places:
Automation rules
Workflow rules
Custom filter JQL
Formula fields
Boards
Dashboards
Forms
Webhooks
Resolve status conflicts
Status conflicts occur when you have existing statuses in one space that duplicate or overlap with statuses that are available to all spaces on your site. To resolve a status conflict, you must update your workflow to replace any existing statuses with ones that are available to all spaces.
To view and resolve status conflicts in your workflow settings:
From your Jira board, select More actions (), then select Manage workflows.
In the workflow editor, look for a warning indicator on statuses that conflict with the space policy.
Identify the most appropriate new status and add it to your workflow if it isn't already there.
If you need a field or status that isn’t available, ask your Jira admin to create it as a new field or status and make it available to all spaces. Once created, it automatically becomes available in your space.
